Shopping for Italian Thanksgiving
Short post; it's late and I'm grumpy LOL.
I made a fun solo trip to the Wednesday market, loving the barkers and the smell of caffè in one spot, roasted chicken in another. I bought fagiolini from the sweet vegetable vendor who remembers me.
Lots of Christmas stuff at every other stall!
I dropped off my things at home; Joe accompanied me to Lidl, the M & L (aka the Chinese store), and Deco, which pretty much covered our Thanksgiving Day shopping items. No evaporated milk to be found, however.
Matteo came up and hung out with us. He's got an engineer's mind, looking at things and figuring out a better way for them to work. When he's good, he's very, very good, and today he was extra super heart melting sweet. His dark brown eyes are huge; I could fall into them. He's a charmer! He also eats whatever is put in front of him. This kid has stolen my heart.
Rodi came to get him, we finished lunch, and I proceeded to make pie crust from scratch (using unfamiliar ingredients). I made three different shells. This took all the time until I had to start supper.
I peeked at my query to friends: Who wants to travel with me in March and/or November? I'm LOVING the responses.
Tonight, rigatoni with a maresciallo sauce, and a salad.
Clean up and wash up for bed.
Thanksgiving prep day.... obviously not celebrated here, except for with Elena. She loves the tradition of it, long enjoyed from watching American films.
And we thought we could escape the turkey dinner from over here! Somehow, they make it all fun, and have enough other food to carry the evening.
Til then.
